Professional leather cleaning is the recommended method to clean your garments; cleaning at home or by standard dry cleaning techniques can damage or shorten the life of your garment.

How should I store my leather garment at home?

Never store leather goods in plastic bags or other non-breathable covers. Leather shoud be stored in a dark, dry closet.  Long exposure to light or high mosture can change the hand of your garment.

What should I do if my leather garment becomes wet?

Allow wet or damp leather to air-dry naturally away from any direct heat source. Wipe salts or dirt from your garment with a damp cloth and allow to dry.

Should I treat my garment with wax or sprays?

In tanning, leather and suede are treated generally with oils to lenghten their life, water repellency, and look.  You should not need to apply these products to your garment.  Cleaning will restore these oils.

Should I press my garment if it becomes wrinkled?

Heat and pressure should only be applied by an experienced technician; we do not recommend pressing a garment at home.

What are the wrinkles on my formerly smooth leather jacket?

Leather is a natural product.  Some leather garmets are made with the soft part of the belly of the animal.  Over time, the layers of this part of the leather loosen, creating what are known as "belly wrinkles".  Cleaning a leather may accelerate this process, but is considered part of the natural beauty of leather, and is not regarded as a defect.

The hem of my garment appears to roll.  Why?

Leather garments, and especially skirts, have glue embeded in them in manufacturing.  This leather glue can become loose over time.  Leather cleaners re-apply this glue to loose areas during processing to eliminate a roll in a hem.

Care Labels

In the US, adherence to care label standards drives the garment care business.  Care labels provide cleaners instructions for processing garments in accordance with the standards under which it was manufactured.  Garments without care labels can only be cleaned at the owner's risk.
